06-19-2018
The TESDA Women's Center is breaking boundaries as the first TESDA Technology Institution in the country being recognized as an Institute of Motor Industry (IMI) Approved Center of Excellence for Light Vehicle Repair and Maintenance. IMI is the world's benchmark for automotive learners, employees and training providers. It is also the leading awarding organization for automotive learning and development recognized by employers globally.
On June 19 to 21, 2018 Mr. Mark Bartle, External Quality Assurer of Institute of Motor Industry, UK made an on-site visit to the TWC and conducted an evaluation and validation of TWC's application for accreditation as an IMI International Partner. The TWC has underwent rigorous approval processes to ensure that its systems, procedures, and policies met with the IMI's stringent requirements. The TWC team was composed Ms. Maria Clara Ignacio, TWC Chief, Ms. Gerrelen Balbin, Unit Head, TMU, and TWC Trainers, Mr. Bryan Landicho, Mr. Richard Robles, Mr. Robert Edward Valenciano, and External Automotive Expert, Mr. Carmelo Jesus O. Camon.
IMI evaluated the results to determine the capability and level of commitment of TWC to be an IMI approved center. After the on-site visit and validation processes, the UK-based Institute of Motor Industry (IMI) has formally announced and recognized the TESDA Women's Center as an IMI-approved centre.
By obtaining approval to offer IMI international qualification in Light Vehicle Repair and Maintenance, it will provide the Automotive graduates of TWC with internationally recognized certification with highest standards of assessment and employability both local and global. Also, it will lead to the development of curriculum and offer a 2-year course for Diploma Program on Automotive Maintenance and Repair in the near future.
