My TWC Journey

"Perseverance and patience would be the perfect words to describe the things I learned from my journey, and I know I still have a lot to learn. But we'll get there because every day is a learning process, and we should not stop learning,"

Before entering the TESDA Women's Center (TWC) as a Dressmaking trainee, Josfer Avelino felt completely lost. He was unsure about his career path and the direction his life was headed. Josfer had planned to pursue a college degree in Fashion Technology, but he knew he needed to strengthen his skills and qualifications first. That's when he decided to enroll in the Dressmaking NC II program at TWC.

"As someone who's fond of fashion, this qualification will surely help me to get ready for college," Josfer recalls.

His decision to join TWC proved to be a turning point in his life. Josfer immersed himself in the program, learning workplace ethics, practicing workplace safety, and mastering the technicalities of sewing and pattern making.

Josfer's dedication and hard work paid off when he was selected to be a stylist for the models and an assistant to fashion designer Ritchie Teves at the Manila International Fashion Week in May 2024.

"Having a job keeps me really busy while practicing and enhancing my full potential," Josfer says, reflecting on his newfound success.

Through his experience at TWC, Josfer has learned the value of perseverance and patience.

Josfer's story is a testament to the transformative power of TESDA's vocational training programs. From a state of uncertainty to becoming an Assistant Fashion Designer/Understudy at a renowned fashion house, Josfer's journey is an inspiration to those who are seeking to unlock their true potential.
