TWC is a Fire-Safe Place

In compliance with the requirements of a fire-safe educational institution, the TESDA Women’s Center organized a seminar for TWC staff members and trainees on Fire Safety and Prevention on 8 October 2007 at the Tandang Sora Hall. The Fire Safety Enforcement Unit of the Taguig City Fire Station headed by SFO4 Regalado P. Hagape Jr. discussed the everyday practice of fire safety. He also gave various tips on fire prevention. According to SFO4 Hagape, for the year 2004 alone, a total of 10,234 fire incidents occurred throughout the Philippines. And he also emphasized that “the two leading causes of fire are faulty electrical connections and open flame/cooking.” SFO4 Hagape and his team likewise stressed the need for all of TWC to be vigilant and not to underestimate the risk of fire. Further, they said that it is important that everyone remembers the contact details of the nearest fire station and that any fire outbreak, however small it is, be reported immediately. The seminar aimed to increase the level of understanding and public awareness on fire incidents. It also provided a good opportunity to teach everyone about fire safety in their own homes, in the community, and in the training center per se.
